I've finally gotten around to doing transcripts of video interviews from back at Comic Con in July.
I've inserted an interview with Amanda further down the page for the date 27-JUL-10

Excerpts from video interview -
Interviewer: Just going back to what you said earlier you said, I don't know how much you can elaborate on this but you said the ultimate sacrifice will be made in Season 3 by Will is it..?
Robin: Nude, I will be nude
Interviewer: but you already said that's easy
Robin: actually that's not a sacrifice. It's a sacrifice for other people because they have to work around it. There's a going over to the other side (to carole "is that fair?" Carole "yeah"). And there's an interesting thing about Will when faced with this decision there's really no choice for him he's going to do it. Will's a very analytical guy and he thinks things through he comes to decisions very quickly and what needs to be done is the emotion is taken out of it and as scary as it is for him to do this he realises that he has to, he's the only one who can perform this duty and save the team and you know it's a very simple choice for him.
Interviewer: Can you say what episode it is in?
Robin: It's right off the top in Season 3
----
Robin: but actually I was sort of nude in that scene. Will wakes up in a bathtub of ice, naked. I was like "thanks Damian!! Thank you!" [laughter]

"Kali Part 2," directed by Martin Wood and also written by McCullough, premieres at 9 p.m. Sept. 28 on Syfy. (Don't forget "Sanctuary" and "Stargate Universe" are moving to Tuesdays this season.) Lee Wilson, co-exec producer and VFX supervisor, showed me some awesome clips from the season premiere with FX that just blew me away.

Next up was Robin Dunne, who stopped by the table. With a smile, he asked us where we were all from, and after explaining that we had people at our table from the four corners of the world, we asked him what his favorite episodes so far for Season 3 were. He told us to watch out for the arcs between episode 5 and 6, which basically changes the entire course of the series. He also explained how the first episode, Kali 3, is extremely big for Will. One can only imagine how the Sanctuary gang was going to get us away from Big Bertha, and into the arcs that will change how we see the series.

Excerpts from the interview -
Interviewer: Let's talk a little bit about how you're going to get out of that cliffhanger from Season 2
Amanda: I know, right! I said to Damian you have painted us into some pretty wicked corners my friend but this one! Yeah, it's quite mysterious what happens and it takes us quite a few episodes to explain it because we don't actually understand it; what happened. We know how we controlled one portion of what was happening but these other tidal waves and how they suddenly... well I can't tell you otherwise I'll have to kill you
[laughter]
Amanda: but we do get out of it, it's quite mysterious and it's pretty huge. and it's part of the impetus for a major story arc that sends us on this epic journey that we end up going on in Season 3.
Interviewer: Well Robin just told me there's an unusual... even more unusual abnormal
Amanda: Yes
Interviewer: That's maybe a place instead of a thing or a person
Amanda: Yes
Interviewer: and does that tie into this whole thing?
Amanda: Yes. We discover something quite remarkable and we saw it in the preview that they showed, they showed a preview at the beginning of our panel. but we discover a map if you will, a holographic map and we have to find this place
Interviewer: so it's like a treasure hunt or an abnormal hunt?
Amanda: it's a huge journey for us, it's a huge journey
-----------------
Interviewer: So Helen last year had the rest of the Sanctuary leaders were sort of... not too, were not fans of hers. Is she still going to have to deal with them?
Amanda: We deal with that fairly quickly because we didn't want it to be the on going... the constantly...
Interviewer: I mean you sort of did the I told you so at the end of last season but...
Amanda: Yeah it carries forward a little bit more and then you see where people's allegiances lie. But we didn't want to carry it out that Helen was battling all the other sanctuaries. There needed to be a confidence in her, there needed to be... in order to move forward you have to believe you need to have characters doing the right thing so we have to ah, but you find out where people's allegiances lie, whether or not they think she's doing the right thing
Interviewer: Well there's one thing you can say about Helen is she doesn't lack confidence at all I don't think
Amanda: No
Interviewer: I mean even when she doubts a little bit it seems like she's always...
Amanda: she's one of those like teflon, she's like you'll never... it's a veneer. She very rarely let's people see beneath it but when she does it's quite a revelation because you realise that below this very austere, totally in control woman is a human being who knows that she makes mistakes and has to have the power of her convictions, has been around long enough to know what works and what doesn't but still makes mistakes. So I think it's important that we strip that down every now and again and show that soft underbelly, if you will.

I’ve enjoyed your guest-starring role on Sanctuary; do you think it will be an ongoing thing? (from Qzee)
P McG – Well, Qzee, I appear in the first two episodes of Sanctuary‘s third season, which I just finished shooting a couple of weeks ago (mid-April), so we’ll see where it goes from there. == Prior to that, I returned to Sanctuary, and my character of Terrence Wexford comes back and opens up the first two episodes of the third season. He’s especially prevalent in the second episode, and some very dramatic stuff happens onboard the ship. The lizard is back and in full force and he’s got a lot of attitude. Terrence isn’t a very nice man and he’s got his problems. I think the word is “power-hungry.”
So it was great to be back and working with Amanda Tapping (Dr. Helen Magnus) and (executive producer) Martin Wood, who directed the episode. A lot of familiar faces from Stargate work on the show, too, so it was a real blast to be back and reprise my Wexford character. Again, we’ll see where it goes from there.

Excerpts from a Pop Culture Zoo interview with Amanda Tapping and Damian Kindler
PCZ: Now did you have a rough idea of how you were going to resolve the season finale from season two?
DK: I knew exactly what we were gonna do to solve that tidal wave giant spider problem! I really thought I’d just be flipping burgers at that point, I thought after the Bollywood dance, the spiders that make earthquakes I’m never working in any town again ever. So when we finally got back together, we were like, “This is great!” We got the show going and then everyone looked at me and said…
AT: Okay, genius, get us out of this one!
DK: “…what kind of insane corner did you paint us into? We are all clinging to the edge of this rock that you put us on!” The person who hates me the most is Alan McCullough, our co-executive producer, who is actually writing the season premiere. I wouldn’t take on such a dangerous job. He’s writing it and I think it’s going to be an amazingly cool episode. It’s actually a two parter!
AT: Yeah, we’ve ended up sort of turning it into a two-parter. I mean just sitting in the room when all the writers got back, and we’ve got a couple new writers this year, sitting in the room and sort of thinking about the logistics of the speed of a tidal wave, and the physics of a tidal wave. The discussions have been very intense, but they figure it out and it’s neat!
DK: It’s cool! When in doubt, another dance.
(all laugh)
